Champagne KORESKA-GILLET

"Champagne is one of the elegant extras in life"
Charles Dickens

From tradition to luxury.

Our KORESKA-GILLET Champagnes are the sum of long family traditions, in which quality and expertise prevail. These family producers work under our quality control to create the finest Champagnes. These vineyards are cultivated in the greatest Champenoise tradition and all the grapes involved in the production of KORESKA-GILLET Champagne, come from the fields belonging to these families since the mid-nineteenth century. In this way, each variety keeps its own identity.

Benefiting from the best South and South-East sun exposure, our producers wait for the optimum time to harvest the grapes, by measuring on a daily basis, the sugar content of the grains from our plots, with the help of a refractmeter. Thereafter, throughout the production process of our Champagne, the wine takes its time to mature and gain the specific smells and flavors of the KORESKA-GILLET Champagne. Our highest priority is the qualitative development of our wines in order to satisfy and accompany the best moments in life with happiness and delicacy.

The origins

The Romans implanted the vineyard cultivation throughout the Roman Gaul, including Northern France. However cold and windy climate as well as Atlantic moisture, did not provide the necessary conditions to continue the wine business at the end of the Middle Age, except in the Champagne area. So far, in the flat landscape of Champagne, there are some interruptions including small hills around the Marne Valley that provide the necessary protection for the ripening of the vine. It is precisely the fact of being located around the limit of the maturing temperature of 10.5 º, making the grapes acid, which grants to the Champagne its special ability to be the best basis for a sparkling wine.

Cold autumns and winter frosts represent the ideal conditions for creating the famous bubbles. The base wine's high acidity level is essential for the production of a good sparkling wine. If fruit maturation can be extended as long as possible until the beautiful Autumn days, high acidity level will be maintained though the grapes get ripe. Flavors given by these conditions to the grapes, are much better than those obtained from grapes grown in warmer climates and harvested early.

The Terroir

The Marne Valley begins where the Montagne de Reims extreme southern slopes slip down to the Marne river. In the Western area of the Marne Valley, appears a beautiful vineyard extension that covers entirely the hills. This is where everything starts for the KORESKA-GILLET Champagne, that is based on three grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

The plots are located on the Northern hills of the Marne river enjoying an optimum South and South-East sun exposure, allowing the harvest of the best grapes. These hills and forests that surround the hill tops are protecting our vineyards from frost.

Sandy lands and sun reflection from the river warm up the Chardonnay vineyard heads. It is a white grape variety that gives body and structure to the GILLET KORESKA Champagne whereas Pinot Noir brings freshness and elegance. These plots of the Marne Valley are also exceptional for the best Pinot Meunier which gives the fruity taste to the KORESKA-GILLET Champagne.
